Materials Converter

While xCAD supports these rendering engines: RedSDK, Visualize, XLux, and LightWorks. We've created an automated method of importing endered files and mapping their Render Attributes (i.e. materials, luminance, environments and render styles) to that of the other rendering engines.

LightWorks render of Tutorial - rendering of RedSDK without (on the left) and with (on the right) porting of attributes:

Porting Options dialog is a part of XCW Open\Setup.

Porting materials to Visualize:

  • If option ‘Use XLux's materials’ (1) is switched on, the XLux's materials will be converted to Visualize.

  • If option ‘Use RedSDK's materials’ (2) is switched on, the RedSDK's materials will be converted to Visualize.

  • If option ‘Use LightWorks's materials’ (3) is switched on, the LightWorks's materials will be converted to Visualize.

  • If option ‘Overwrite Visualize existing items’ is switched on, the existing Visualize attributes will be overwritten. This option is enabled only if option (1), (2) or option (3) is switched on.

Porting materials to XLux:

The example uses:

  • If option 'Use RedSDK materials' (1) is switched on, the RedSDK's materials will be converted to XLux.

  • If option ‘Use LightWorks's materials’ (2) is switched on, the LightWorks's materials will be converted to XLux.

  • If option ‘Overwrite XLux existing items’ is switched on, the existing XLux attributes will be overwritten. This option is enabled only if option (1) or (2) is switched on.

Porting RedSDK's attributes to LightWorks:

  • If "Enable" (1) is enabled, the RedSDK's attributes will be converted to LightWorks.

  • If "Overwrite LightWorks's existing items" is enabled, the existing LightWorks attributes will be overwritten. This option can be enabled only if option (1) is switched on.

RedSDK render (on the left), Lightworks render (on the right) after porting of attributes:

In xCAD, RedSDK rendered images are now more accurately and completely converted to a LightWorks rendered image with improvements to this tool in xCAD.
